Large language models can exhibit emergent reasoning behaviors, often manifested as recurring lexical patterns (e.g., “wait,” indicating verification). However, complex reasoning trajectories remain sparse in unconstrained sampling, and standard RL often fails to guarantee the acquisition of diverse reasoning behaviors.
