Amazon Aurora DSQL change data capture (CDC) is now generally available, enabling you to stream real-time database changes to Amazon Kinesis Data Streams for event-driven architectures and data integration workflows. Aurora DSQL CDC automatically captures the results of insert, update, and delete operations as change events and delivers them to Kinesis Data Streams with no infrastructure to manage. You can use CDC to synchronize data across microservices, trigger AWS Lambda functions, or deliver changes to Amazon S3, Amazon Redshift, and Amazon OpenSearch Service via Amazon Data Firehose. CDC

Why this matters
Why now

The general availability of Amazon Aurora DSQL CDC reflects the increasing demand for real-time data processing and event-driven architectures in modern application development.

Why it’s important

This development enables businesses to build more responsive and scalable applications by leveraging real-time data changes, enhancing operational efficiency and customer experience.

What changes

Developers can now seamlessly stream database changes from Aurora DSQL to Kinesis Data Streams without managing additional infrastructure, simplifying event-driven system design and data integration.

Winners
  • · AWS customers
  • · Application developers
  • · Companies using event-driven architectures
Losers
  • · Enterprises reliant on batch processing for data integration
  • · Traditional ETL tool vendors (to some extent)
Second-order effects
Direct

Real-time data synchronization across diverse services becomes easier and more robust.

Second

Increased adoption of microservices and serverless architectures due to simplified data consistency.

Third
