Starting today, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) X8i instances are available in the Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney) and AWS GovCloud (US-West) regions. These instances are powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors available only on AWS. X8i instances are SAP-certified and deliver the highest performance and fastest memory bandwidth among comparable Intel processors in the cloud. They deliver up to 43% higher performance, 1.5x more memory capacity (up to 6TB), and 3.3x more memory bandwidth compared to previous generation X2i instances. X8i instances are designed for me

Why this matters
Why now

AWS continues to roll out specialized compute instances to meet evolving enterprise and data processing demands, particularly for high-performance workloads like SAP.

Why it’s important

The availability of these high-performance, memory-optimized instances in new regions enhances AWS's competitive position and offers customers greater flexibility for resource-intensive applications.

What changes

Customers in the specified Asia Pacific and AWS GovCloud regions now have access to a more powerful EC2 instance type for SAP-certified and memory-bound workloads, potentially leading to performance improvements and cost efficiencies.
