Amazon Route 53 Global Resolver now enables you to share DNS views with other AWS accounts using AWS Resource Access Manager (AWS RAM). Consumer accounts can associate their own Route 53 private hosted zones with a shared DNS view, making their records resolvable through the owner's global resolver in every AWS Region where it runs—without transferring ownership of the hosted zone or the DNS view. With DNS view sharing, teams can continue to own and manage their private hosted zones while making them resolvable through a centralized global resolver. You can control access using predefined AWS

Why this matters
Why now

This update aligns with AWS's continued efforts to enhance multi-account management, resource sharing, and network infrastructure flexibility within its cloud ecosystem.

Why it’s important

It streamlines network management for large organizations, enabling more efficient and secure DNS resolution across distributed cloud environments without compromising ownership.

What changes

Organizations can now centralize DNS resolution for private hosted zones across multiple AWS accounts, simplifying complex network architectures and identity management.

Winners
  • · Large enterprises using AWS
  • · Cloud infrastructure architects
  • · AWS
  • · Managed service providers
Losers
  • · N/A
Second-order effects
Direct

Simplifies multi-account AWS network architectures and improves operational efficiency for DNS management.

Second

Could reduce the need for complex custom DNS forwarding solutions and centralize security policies for internal DNS resolution.

Third

Potentially enables more sophisticated, shared networking patterns for highly distributed, secure applications within large organizations.
